Celebrating the Legacy of Adalay Wilson

After 35 years of dedicated service, Adalay Wilson, Chief Program Officer, is retiring from UMFS. Adalay’s impact on children, teens, and families across Virginia is immeasurable. Since joining UMFS in 1989, she has been a champion for prevention, preservation, reunification, and Kinship Care, shaping programs that uplift and strengthen communities.

With over 38 years of experience in nonprofit and public service, Adalay has held multiple leadership roles, including Vice President of Programs, Adoption Director, and Regional Center Director. She has played a pivotal role in advancing child welfare, mental health, and residential services statewide. A Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Adalay’s expertise and commitment have left a lasting mark on UMFS and the families we serve.

Reflecting on her journey, Adalay shared:

“Our strengths-based approach has guided us in recognizing and nurturing the potential in every child and family, and the passion each of you brings to your work ignites greatness—not just in our programs, but in the hearts of those we support. I’m so proud of what we have accomplished together. The relationships I’ve built during my time here are what I will miss most, and I carry with me cherished memories and invaluable lessons learned from each of you. The future is bright for our organization; indeed, the best is yet to come.”
