Annual Giving
The UMFS Annual Giving Guardian Parent Program provides a pool of unrestricted funds from individuals, corporations, foundations, churches, and organizations that support the agency. Annual Fund gifts are especially important because they fill the gap that state funding cannot. Gifts to the Guardian Parent Program go to the greatest need of the agency and are entirely separate from the capital and brick campaigns and are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law. Gifts to the Annual Giving Guardian Parent Program allow us to provide:
- Science, music, art and horticulture programming for children in our residential program.
- Training for families interested in becoming foster and adoptive parents.
- Education and life skills necessary for the children in our residential program to become productive citizens.
- Ongoing counseling and support to adoptive families.
- Programs and ministries of a spiritual nature for the children and families we serve.

Matching Gifts: Employer matching gift programs are an easy way to increase the impact of your gift of cash or securities to UMFS. Hundreds of employers across the nation encourage their employees to support non-profit organizations by offering to match employee donations, sometimes by doubling or tripling every dollar given. These gifts not only benefit the agency but could also bring the donor to a higher level of recognition. Perhaps your employer is one of these. Here is how you can participate:
- First, find out if your employer has a matching gift program.
- If your employer participates, obtain a matching gift application form from your Human Resources or Personnel Department. Many corporations also have this form available for downloading on their website.
- Fill out the matching gift application form and send it to:
Attn: Development Department, UMFS, 3900 West Broad Street, Richmond VA 23230.
- UMFS will complete the form and send it to your employer to process.
- Your employer will send the matching gift to UMFS.
For more information on matching gift eligibility, please ask your employer or contact Brenda Foster at the UMFS Development Office at (804) 254-9450.
